With over 30 years, Dr. Michael Bevis has had broad international expertise in educational leadership, teaching and learning (K12 - university), school development, school accreditation, and strategic planning in multicultural educational settings. His research focus is in multicultural and multilingual education, intercultural competence, cultural sensitivity and cultural responsive teaching. Currently serving as the Co-Head of Beijing International Bilingual School, he has served in various leadership roles in other schools in Beijing, Tianjin, Hong Kong, and the US as well as an associate professor at George Fox University, Portland State University and Washington State University.

Mickael Corbard is the current Attaché for Higher Education and Social Sciences at the French Embassy in China. He has worked as the head of the international Master programmes for a renowned French design school and developed many academic collaborations and double degree programmes with Chinese universities. Mickael Corbard has overseen international recruitment of hundreds of talented students in the field of design in Asia and Latin America and has given lectures about intercultural collaboration, Chinese culture and Chinese language in several schools and universities.

John Edwards is currently Her Majesty's Trade Commissioner to China, based in Beijing. He was previously the British Consul-General Shanghai, and has been with the Foreign and Commonwealth since 1996. John was Deputy Consul General at the British Consulate General Jerusalem from 2008 to 2012. He returned to China in 2012, and worked at the British Embassy for four years as Minister Counselor (Prosperity) with the overall responsibility for UK-China policy collaboration on climate change, urbanisation, energy and healthcare, along with strategic oversight of the science and innovation network.

Julian is the cofounder of Venture Education, Vice Chair of the British Chamber of Commerce in China and Chair of the Chamber's Education Forum.

Dave Haysom has taught middle school and high school English at Beijing World Youth Academy, where he is currently Theory of Knowledge Coordinator and Head of English. A Beijing resident since 2007, he also translates Chinese literature and has organised translation workshops in collaboration with institutions such as the Free Word Centre, the Southbank Centre, and the Centre for New Chinese Writing at Leeds University.

Chris Kirk, UCAS International Director
Chris joined UCAS as the new Director of UCAS International in June 2022, to further enhance UCAS’ role in helping the world connect with UK higher education. He has responsibility for driving the evolution of our international undergraduate admissions services, as well as the growth and value in our recently launched Myriad by UCAS platform – a mobile-first tool to support international postgraduate students applying to study in the UK. Chris has worked in professional and technical education & training for almost two decades across the UK and international markets.

Sylvia is the Head of Business Pursuit at British Council. Prior to joining British Council, she has been leading the international student acquisition and mobility strategy for several UK universities in the Asia Pacific markets for more than a decade.

Dr Robert Sharples is one of the world's leading experts in bilingualism in K12 schools. He is a trusted advisor to school groups and local governments in the UK and internationally, helping them to develop evidence-based strategies for teaching and learning in multiple languages. His recent publication covers topics such as how children acquire additional languages, how language works across the curriculum and how to establish outstanding EAL practice in schools.

Rachel Tsang is the Managing Director of the British Chamber of Commerce in China, driving the mission of fostering a strong British business community. With a background in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science and currently pursuing an MBA at Imperial College London, she has a deep understanding of the cultural and business landscape in China. Rachel's experience working in Beijing and her roots in Hong Kong enable her to forge strong connections between British and Chinese businesses.

Daniel has been in China since 2010 and is a passionate advocate for bilingual education. Prior to coming to China, Daniel was educated bilingually and was a teacher in bilingual schools in Wales. He has worked in both international and private Chinese schools and is fascinated by the role language plays in our concept of ourselves and cognition.

Mandy Zhang joined King’s College London in 2015 and currently works as the Global Partner and Influencer Marketing Manager, leading King's global agent network management and supporting marketing communications with education influencers and stakeholders. Prior to this role, she has been overseeing King's student recruitment in various markets including China, East and Southeast Asia. With ten years of professional experience at two leading UK higher education institutions, Mandy has extensive experience in international student recruitment and education marketing.
