The British Chamber of Commerce in China will hold its 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Friday 12th June, 4pm – 5:30pm.


We encourage as many members as possible to attend for the meeting, to have your say in our Executive Committee for the coming year.

Nominations are now being taken for the following positions on the Executive Committee:

  • One Vice-Chair
  • One Treasurer
  • Six At-Large Members

Annual General Meeting 2026 – Notice of AGM and Election

Notice is hereby given, in accordance with the By-laws of the British Chamber of Commerce in China, that the Annual General Meeting ("AGM") of the Chamber will take place as follows:


Friday, 12 June 2026

4:00 pm – 5:30 pm

Residence of the British Ambassador, 15 Guanghua Road, Beijing


All Chamber members are welcome to attend.


The AGM will include:

  • Chair's Report
  • Treasurer's Report
  • Presentation of the annual accounts
  • Election of Committee Members
  • Consideration of any other duly notified business


Executive Committee Elections

Nominations are invited for the following elected positions:

  • One Vice Chair
  • One Treasurer
  • Six At-Large Committee Members


In accordance with the Chamber By-laws:

  • Only representatives of Voting Corporate Members ("VCMs") may stand for election or vote.
  • Each VCM is entitled to one vote.
  • Individual Members may attend and speak at the AGM but may not vote.

If your company wishes to change its nominated voting representative for the AGM, please notify the Chamber secretariat in advance.


How to Stand for Election

To stand for election, candidates must:

  1. Complete the official nomination form.
  2. Be proposed and seconded by representatives of two separate Voting Corporate Members;
  3. Submit a biography and motivation statement of no more than 150 words each, together with a headshot.


Completed nominations must be submitted no later than:

5:00 pm, Thursday, 4 June 2026

Election Process

The final list of candidates will be circulated to members following the close of nominations.

Voting will take place at the AGM by secret ballot in accordance with the Chamber By-laws. Proxy voting arrangements for eligible members unable to attend in person will be circulated in advance of the AGM.

Elections will take place in the following order:

  1. Vice Chair
  2. Treasurer
  3. At-Large Committee Members


Candidates unsuccessful in an earlier election may stand in a subsequent category where eligible under the By-laws.

 

The election process will be overseen by a Returning Officer appointed in accordance with the Chamber By-laws.
