Early in May this year, the British Chambers of Commerce in China launched the inaugural Position Paper to provide advocacy and representation on behalf of British businesses operating in China. The launch of the Position Paper was in response to demand from member companies, and it was the first time that British business in China took a united stance on the business environment in China.
The Paper is the product of a process collecting the voice of British business on the regulatory barriers that they face, areas of opportunity for bilateral cooperation and recommendations for market access reform. Since its launch in May, the Paper communicated the needs of British business to the UK and China governments and brought positive effect in helping to encourage further dialogue and enact meaningful change. In the past two months, a delegation of members of the Chambers have presented the Paper to a number of key governmental officials in both China and the UK, including:
