Event Details

Leadership is in crisis. Scandals are commonplace, only 20% of employees claim they trust their leaders, two in three think politicians are only motivated by self-interest, three-quarters of firms say they don't have the leadership bench thatthey need today and major societal problems are not being resolved. This month's Talks at the Bell welcomes Stephen Wyatt, Professor in Leadership and Strategy at the University of Bath, to discuss his new book, Antidote to the Crisis of Leadership.

In a wide-ranging discussion moderated by Lewis Neal, HM Trade Commissioner to China, Wyatt will discuss why leadership today requires different skills to those of the past, and will explore how business leaders can develop these differentiating skills and mindsets. Informed by his experience in the corporate world and in-depth interviews with more than 50 leaders from across the world, Wyatt's timely conclusions add depth beyond the traditional evergreen skills of leadership.

Talks at the Bell is the British Chamber's monthly series of insightful panel discussions and events hosted at the British Embassy Beijing's on-site pub. This event is an opportunity to hear more about sector insights, network with members of the Chamber and Embassy staff, and enjoy a drink at one of Beijing's oldest pubs! Talks at the Bell is intended to be an informative evening of talks and debates, introducing different sectors each month to a non-specialist audience. Members from all industries and member companies are warmly invited to participate.
