Mark was elected to the UK Parliament in 2019, winning Bolton North East – the first time that the Conservatives have taken this seat since 1992. He was elected to the Science & Technology Select Committee in February 2020, and is Vice Chair for the All Party Parliamentary China Group.
Before entering politics Mark has had a longstanding engagement with China. He studied Mandarin at Shanghai Jiaotong University and Peking University, thereafter working in both the public and private sectors. He was Chief Spokesman at the British Consulate-General Shanghai. During that time Mark led on various strands of UK-China relations including the GREAT campaign and the wider political and public diplomacy engagement between the UK and China. Mark was also country marketing director for a leading US Management consultancy, and has worked with MNCs headquartered in East Asia.
Mark did an undergraduate degree in Law at Queen’s University Belfast. He went on to complete a MSc in Comparative Politics (Asia) from LSE, and a MSc in Modern Chinese Studies from the University of Oxford.

In this third webinar in the UK-China Dialogue series, we are excited to interview Mark Logan, a Member of the Parliament for Bolton North East.
Mark has had a longstanding engagement with China. Aside from sharing his China experience, Mark will discuss his thoughts on the future of UK-China relations, Brexit and the UK's appetite for a Free-Trade Agreement with China, as well as the implications of the newly established China Research Group on Sino-UK relations.
