Thank you for a record-breaking British Ball 2023!
The largest Ball in town got even larger this year, with a record-breaking attendance of almost 800 guests! We also partied longer, took more photos, and wore more flat caps than ever before – all while raising hundreds of thousands for charity!
Opening with a spectacular dance class and cabaret from Moonglow and The British Schools of Beijing, guests were treated to an array of performances that wowed. British Chamber Managing Director, Rachel Tsang, introduced the evening, and Geraldine McCafferty,Deputy Head of Mission at British Embassy Beijing, took to the stage in a glittering dress by Jenny Packham to welcome guests. Chair of the British Ball 2023 Organising Committee, Russell Brown, introduced the history of the Ball, noting that the ball had managed to raise over RMB 6 million for good causes in the past twenty years.
MC and Chair of the British Chamber, Julian Fisher ran proceedings throughout the night, including a hotly-contested dance-off! Tunes from SWG Ensemble and Backseat Bingo kept us grooving until late, while DJ Juhstynn spun a stellar combination of old school indie tunes. Tricks from Freddo the Fox, a whisky tasting from Glasgow1770 and a fabulous photo booth from Peking Studio kept all of us entertained all night.
Throughout the night, guests also donated to charity through our raffle, silent auction, and photo booth. Thanks for your generous support of Roots and Shoots, our charity partner for this year!
