Rachel Tsang is the Managing Director of the British Chamber of Commerce in China, driving the mission of fostering a strong British business community. With a background in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science and currently pursuing an MBA at Imperial College London, she has a deep understanding of the cultural and business landscape in China. Rachel's experience working in Beijing and her roots in Hong Kong enable her to forge strong connections between British and Chinese businesses.
Acting as the senior representative of University of Edinburgh in East Asia, Grace is responsible for raising the profile and advancing engagement across the region, looking after the strategic and ambitious partnership the university has with governments, private sectors, and research institutes. Grace plays a leading role in the China Strategy for the university. She also leads her team to develop diverse activities including alumni engagement, research collaboration, developing connections and opportunities for the university across East Asia.
Prior to the role, Grace worked for the British Consulate General Shanghai over 7 years as the Senior Political officer, leading the UK Government’s Civil Society and value-based initiatives, while managing the Official Development Assistance fund in East China. Grace has been nominated as a Global Scot by the Scottish Development International, for her continuous efforts in strengthening the links between Scotland and Asia.
Dr Anne Kerr holds various roles and positions within Mott MacDonald including that of Managing Director, Greater China. She arrived in HK as a graduate and has been involved in many strategic projects which have shaped HK’s development. Her focus is on developing places and facilities for people! Her involvement in projects which shaped and continued to develop Hong Kong’s international airport continue, and the experience gained through strategic development planning, environmental and sustainability assessments have been transferred to many other jurisdictions. She is actively involved in professional organisations including the British Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong where she served on, and chaired the Environment and Energy Committee and the Smart City Forum. She has served as Vice Chair of the General Committee and is currently the Chair having been appointed in September 2022.
Chris Torrens is a Partner in Control Risks' Greater China and North Asia region, based in Beijing. Chris advises multinational clients on risk and strategy, particularly in the areas of geopolitical, regulatory and compliance risk. He is also responsible for the company's Chinese client base, advising both state-owned and private Chinese multinational companies on global risk management, particularly across Africa, the Middle East and the Americas. Chris has a BA Honors degree in Modern Chinese Studies from the University of Leeds and an MBA from the China-Europe International Business School. His book, Doing Business in China, was published by The Economist Group in 2010.
Maxime is a Partner at Acclime Group and Director Operation & Strategy at Acclime China. He has lived in China over 10 years after graduating with distinction from a master's degree in Organisational Management from Maastricht University in the Netherlands. Maxime has advised various companies (both SMEs and MNCs) on their operations, market entry strategy and overall feasibility of expanding to China.
Alexandra moved to Beijing in 2017, after completing a dual bachelors degree in Law and Commerce at the University of Queensland, Australia. Prior to joining the Chamber in 2022 as Senior Policy Analyst, Alexandra worked in an international law firm as a junior associate specialising in international shipping and trade.
