Dr. Qian Liu is an influential economist and business executive. She understands well both China and the West, and has shown exceptional ability to bridge the two in the age of China rising and new globalisation. As Managing Director of The Economist Group in Greater China, Dr. Liu showed excellent leadership in expanding business with innovation. She previously headed The Economist Intelligence Unit’s Global Economics Unit and China Research, and chaired internal review with The European Securities and Market Authority. As an economist, Dr. Liu has deep knowledge of Chinese economy, publishes in highly regarded academic journals and business, and is frequently
interviewed by BBC, CNBC, NPR, etc. Dr. Liu is also a prominent advocate for gender equality, and introduces cutting edge global economic research on gender, and promotes intelligent public debates reaching millions of people. In 2016, she was awarded
Outstanding Woman by Caixin. Dr. Liu earned her PhD in Economics from Uppsala University, Sweden, and was previously a visiting scholar at UC Berkeley, and received executive training from Stanford University. She is the Vice Chair at The British Chamber of Commerce in China, and elected as the Director of 2005 Committee and Youth Council Member of Future Forum. In 2019, Dr. Liu was named as Young Global Leader at World Economic Forum.

Julian MacCormac is Country Director for Rolls-Royce, China. Julian first came to China in 1993 and has spent much of the past twenty-five years living in or working on China. Julian joined Rolls-Royce in 2016, serving as Director for Business Development for Rolls-Royce’s civil nuclear business in China. Prior to joining Rolls-Royce Julian spent ten years in the UK Civil-Service. He worked on research, science and innovation policy, with a particular focus the commercialisation of publicly-funded research. Julian spent four years as Commercial Counsellor at the British Embassy in Beijing and led UK-China trade and investment work on infrastructure and energy. Julian currently serves as Chair of the British Chamber of Commerce in China. He has a degree in Chinese and Management. He is a recipient of the prestigious Frank Knox Fellowship and received his Master’s degree in East Asian Studies from Harvard University. In 1997 he received the Lotus Prize, awarded to exemplary Foreign Experts working in China.

Technology Analyst at Gavekal Dragonomics

Dan Wang is the Shanghai-based technology analyst at Gavekal Dragonomics, the economic research firm. He focuses on China’s technology progress, the impacts of US regulatory actions, as well as supply chain relocation. He has given keynotes for a variety of organisations, from financial institutions to NGOs, and his work is widely cited in the press. Dan is also a contributor to Bloomberg Opinion and has in addition published in Foreign Affairs and New York Magazine. He previously worked in Silicon Valley and studied philosophy at the University of Rochester.

Xu Sitao is Chief Economist and Partner of Deloitte China, spearheading Deloitte's economic and industry research. Prior to Deloitte, he was Chief Representative of China and EIU forecasting director at the Economist Group from 2004 to 2014.

Sitao worked for MMS International of Standard and Poor’s Group in Singapore as the Economist for Indonesia, Korea and Thailand in 1995. He joined Standard Chartered Bank as Regional Treasury Economist in 1996. From 2000 to 2002, he was Societe Generale’s Chief Economist for Asia. In 2003, he became the Head of Economics of ICBC (Asia).

Sitao has written for YaleGlobal Online, the Asian Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Caijing, Caixin and 21st Century Business Herald. He appears regularly on CNBC, Bloomberg, CCTV, and other TV shows as a commentator on China. He is on the Speaker Retainer Program for the Virginia-based CFA Institute, and is often invited by leading MNCs to their board rooms, to present key issues on China.

Sitao holds a B.A. in Economics from Peking University, a M.A. in Economics from the University of Connecticut, and a M.S. in Finance from Boston College. He was a visiting scholar at Hoover Institution at Stanford University in 2012. He is also a guest professor at the School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University. He has sit on the board of Forterra, a listed company in Singapore, Valin, a major steel companies which is partially owned by ArcelorMittal, Hisun, a technology company listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and a joint venture between Bank of New York Mellon and Western Securities.
