Rachel Morarjee
Director,Corporate Network of The Economist GroupRachel Morarjee is director of the Economist Corporate Network, the Economist Group’s advisory network and executive briefing service. She regularly advises CEOs, corporate board members and politicians about political and economic risk in China, bringing over two decades of China experience and a global perspective to the role. Rachel began her international media career in China in the late 1990s and left the region for a decade to work in Afghanistan, Russia and London from 2003-2013. She has been based in Beijing for the last six years.
Immediately prior to joining The Economist Group, Rachel worked as the Reuters Breakingviews’ China columnist, covering financial risk and China’s overseas investment splurge. She earlier served as a consultant at Brunswick Group advising Chinese firms on their global media strategies and non-Chinese firms on Chinese government relations.
Before moving back to China in 2013, Rachel worked as a foreign correspondent for over two decades, writing for the Financial Times in London, Moscow and Afghanistan, covering subjects ranging from the Taliban insurgency in Afghanistan to Russian banking and European stock markets. A fluent Mandarin speaker, she worked for Agence France Presse as Shanghai Bureau Chief as well as in Hong Kong and Kabul in the span of her career. Rachel read Chinese and History at London’s School of Oriental and African Studies.

Vice Chair of the British Chamber of Commerce in China and Senior Partner at Venture EducationJulian is the cofounder of Venture Education, Vice Chair of the British Chamber of Commerce in China and the Chair of the Chamber's Education Forum. He is also President of the Entrepreneurs’ Organisation for Northern China.
Venture Education empowers UK education in China with a particular focus on employability, entrepreneurship and gender equality. Recent initiatives have included the Future Female Leaders programme, a report on Girls’ and Women’s education in the UK and strong support for the British Embassy’s Pledge for Progress campaign.
