The British Chamber of Commerce in China the leading independent voice of British business in China. We are a membership organisation focusing on helping British businesses succeed in China. We operate as an independent, not-for-profit organisation with a strong and diverse membership base representing UK companies operating in the market.
The British Chamber of Commerce in China has been at the heart of the British business community in China since the early days of reform and opening-up. As British businesses began to build their presence in the early 1980s, they came together to create a network on the ground in China to support the community, share knowledge, and advocate for greater market access. On 1 April 1981 the British Chamber was established as the Association of British Commerce in China with a mission to be the independent voice of British business in China, funded solely by our members.
Today the British Chamber of Commerce in China remains firmly focused on members operating on the ground in China and our three pillars: advocating for the best possible market access, sharing knowledge, and bringing the community together. These pillars have been at the heart of the Chamber since 1981 and remain firmly so.
Becoming a member of the British Chamber of Commerce in China means you will be joining a network of business leaders and industry experts. From big multinationals to small start-ups, companies join our membership programme to network with experienced peers, to, to contribute and get latest insights to UK-China policy development, as well as gain access into the UK and Chinese governments.
Individual membership is not intended as an alternative to corporate membership. The Chamber reserves the right to reject individual applications where Corporate membership would be more appropriate.
